Week seven brings me to the half way point in my European adventure. I headed back to the US for a week of meetings and travel travel travel.
Steph picked me up from the airport in Sat. and we headed directly to the nail salon where we met up with Rachel. Oh, how amazing that was! While I am sure there are nice, inexpensive nail salons in London, I have yet to find anything under £30 ($60). With all the walking and the cold wind, my hands and feet look gnarly. I told the folks at the nail salon I would be back in a week for a second round before I headed back to London. As I was still wide awake, we decided to head to dinner and hit up a local Indian restaurant that was recommended by the owner of the nail salon. The full belly and lack of sleep started to set in so I headed home before 8 pm. I did force myself to stay up until midnight to watch the last four episodes of Greys Anatomy. What a great show!!!
Sunday was a big day out with four trips to target. What for you might ask, no reason, just because I could. And I am sure my dear friends at Target missed me as well.
Later that night I met up with Stefanie and Kent Henderson and Steph at the Melting Pot. Good food as always.
The rest of the week is a bit of a blur as I was in the Atlanta office on Monday and Tuesday, NY on Wednesday and closed the week in Boston on Thursday and Friday. It was definitely a week of burning the candle at both ends.
Tuesday evening was the Justin Timberlake concert. Words can’t even describe how mind-blowing the evening turned out to be. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if I had actually met him face to face. Pink opened the event with a great show which could be compared to a Cirque du Soleil show; lots of acrobatics. From the point JT came on the stage to the encore performance, I was enthralled with the show. Special guests included Atlanta native TI and Timbaland. They both added to the show but JT definitely made it worth the while.
Overall my travels went well with one minor hiccup in NY. I didn’t realize my driver’s license had expired in February. The security staff in NY did happen to notice and were not going to let me on the plane. After going through the full security check, I was allowed to board the plane and make my way to Boston.
I closed my week off with a final trip to the nail salon as well as a final breakfast at North Highland bakery. They have the best grits in the south.
I am now back in my London flat and ready to kick off week 8 and the second half of my journey.
